Hello, I'm Kat, the founder and CEO of EQUEENE Equestrian. My journey in the equestrian world began when I left school at 16 to pursue an apprenticeship at an event yard. This early experience immersed me in the daily realities of horse care and management, solidifying my commitment to the equestrian lifestyle.
I advanced to become head girl for an international showjumper, which involved grooming at prestigious international competitions. This role honed my skills and deepened my understanding of the demands placed on both horses and riders at the highest levels.
Later, I established my own dealing and competition livery yard, where I bred and produced horses up to 1.40m. Managing this operation required a blend of business acumen and hands-on horsemanship, further enriching my perspective on the industry's needs.
After a three-year hiatus working for an equestrian agency, I returned to hands-on equestrian work as a yard manager for a busy livery yard in Dorset. I also resumed competing in show jumping, currently producing and competing my homebred mare, Isla (KS KILLER QUEEN). This ongoing involvement keeps me connected to the challenges and aspirations of riders at all levels.
Throughout my career, I encountered a recurring issue: the lack of durable, functional, and stylish riding apparel. I found myself spending anywhere between £60-£250 on breeches, often without noticing significant improvements in design or longevity. This gap in the market sparked the idea for EQUEENE Equestrian.
I envisioned creating a range of equestrian clothing that combined technical performance with modern design, suitable for the rigorous demands of daily yard work and the comfort desired by everyday riders. EQUEENE is not just another fast-fashion brand; it's a commitment to developing a capsule wardrobe of equestrian apparel that stands the test of time, both in quality and style.
